St. Vincent, known to her childhood Lake Highlands neighbors as Annie Clark, is coming to town next month for a concert in Deep Ellum.
Coming off an awards season that saw her career Grammy total jump from three to six Awards, Clark is riding a bit of momentum with her All Born Screaming tour. She will take the stage at the Bomb Factory in Deep Ellum on April 6 at 8 p.m.
The All Born Screaming Tour is named for its featured album, which won the first Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album by a female artist in two decades at the 67th award show. Two songs from the album, “Broken Man” and “Flea”, won Best Rock Song and Best Alternative Performance, respectively.
“If you’re born screaming, that’s a great sign,” Clark wrote in the concert description, “because it means you’re breathing. You’re alive. My god. It’s joyous. And then it’s also a protest. We’re all born in protest in a certain way. It’s terrifying to be alive, it’s ecstatic to be alive. It’s everything.”
Clark is a 2001 graduate of Lake Highlands High School and still maintains ties in the area. Over the holidays, she held a pop-up concert in the parking lot of her brother-in-law’s restaurant, Resident Taqueria, where she once served tacos following its 2017 opening.
Doors for the April 6 show will open at 7 p.m. and tickets can be purchased on the Bomb Factory’s website.
