When I first began receiving texts and emails this weekend from people swearing they’d seen rock star St. Vincent working behind the counter at newly-opened Resident Taqueria in Lake Highlands, most people figured their eyes were deceiving them. “If I didn’t know better,” most said, “I could have sworn that was St. Vincent taking my order (or clearing the table next to us or pouring our Cokes).”
Yeah, that was indeed St. Vincent, aka 2001 Lake Highlands High School grad Annie Clark, helping sister of Amy Clark Savoie and sister-in-law of chef Andrew Savoie get their new restaurant up-and-running.
And it’s a good thing she took a little break from her glam life touring the country, performing her music, and hanging out with Cara Delevingne and Taylor Swift. The restaurant has been slammed since its soft opening October 4th with customers patiently waiting in line and praising the innovative food.
You’ll find Resident Taqueria (and possibly a former musical guest on Saturday Night Live) next to the former T.Hee’s at Walnut Hill and Audelia.
And, yes, that really is her.
