Set to take place this Sunday from 2-6 p.m, the 2025 Board Break-a-Thon will see five age divisions of contestants chopping boards to raise money for the Born Strong Foundation. All registration fees and contributions, along with a portion of food and beverage sales, will be donated to the foundation.

Open to all aged five and above, the competition is divided into five age divisions. The schedule for the event is as follows:

3PM: Ages 5 – 7

3:30PM: Ages 8 – 10

4PM: Ages 11 – 13

4:30PM: Ages 14 – 17

5PM: Ages 18 and Up

Prizes will be awarded to the top board breaker and top fundraiser in each division. Board choppers will be evaluated and scored based upon the number of boards broken in a row using the same technique, with difficulty increasing as thicker boards are added.

For those who don’t want to compete, attendees can donate $5 and receive a board to decorate. They can then take the board to a board-breaking station and be given instructions on how to chop it in half.

The Born Strong Foundation is a local non profit organization that makes martial arts lessons accessible for low income residents in South and East Dallas through free and reduced cost lessons.

Online registration closes at 8 p.m. on March 25, but same day registration will be available on sight for an increased fee of $50. All contestants are asked to arrive an hour beforehand.
