The NBA Finals kick off Thursday at 7:30 p.m. with the Dallas Mavericks looking to secure the franchise’s first title since 2011.
With Kyrie Irving facing his former team and Kristaps Porzingis returning to Dallas, the Finals are jam-packed with intriguing storylines. For Lake Highlands neighbors looking to get off the couch and enjoy the action at one of the neighborhood’s local spots, here’s four places with plenty of TVs, refreshing drinks and tasty eats.
Lochland’s Irish Pub and Beer Garden
8518 Plano Rd.
For those looking to enjoy the game at an authentic Irish pub with an expansive cocktail menu, varied draft beer options, extensive spirit list, outdoor seating and TVs aplenty – inside and out– Lochland’s has got you covered. Offering Boulevardiers, draught Guinness, and fine imported Irish whiskeys, the experience is elevated by Lochland’s dynamic food menu offering lighter bar snacks and hearty pub fare. There’s also plenty of NA options. Weather permitting, Lochland’s outdoor Beer Garden has tons of seating, although it may fill up quickly during Finals games.
Underdog Restaurant and Sports Club
6750 Abrams Rd. Suite 110
The newest spot on the list, recently opened Underdog Restaurant and Sports Club checks all the boxes for a classic sports bar. Operating in a large, open space packed to the brim with TVs, Underdog has craft cocktails, draft beer and most spirits. Light snacks such as fried Brussels sprouts, mac n’ cheese eggrolls, pimento cheese dip, fried pickles and more are available to satisfy mid-game cravings. There’s also quite a few entree items including plenty of burger options, pizza by the slice, fish and chips, and a short rib chili.
Lake House White Rock Bar and Grill
7510 E NW Hwy.
A tad more laid back than other spots on the list, Lake House is a great place to take your significant other for a more date night-style game experience. They also have more than a dozen TVs. A small, intimate space, the bar’s draft selection is filled with local brews and is significantly larger than its bottled/canned offering. Cold beer isn’t all Lake House has to offer, however, with a New World-heavy wine-by-the-glass list and house-made cocktails like the Dallasite rounding out a cohesive drink menu. For food, Lake House serves elevated bar fare including flatbreads, tacos, nachos, sandwiches, grits, salmon and more.
Shady’s Burgers and Brewhaha
9661 Audelia Rd.
First off, if you’re looking for a place to spend some time away from the kids, this may not be the place. But if you’re looking for a great, family-friendly spot to enjoy the game with your younger Mavs fans, Shady’s is the perfect spot. With a play area, approachable kid’s menu and hand-crafted shakes, the little ones will have a hard time succumbing to boredom. For the adults, Shady’s has tons of local and domestic beer and spirit options, not to mention the most budget-friendly cocktail menu of any venue on this list.
