On Oct. 11, the Dallas City Council increased the Lake Highlands Trail renovation project’s funding from $4.4 million to $4.8 million at its meeting. The Lake Highlands Trail renovation is a 2.5-mile extension of the trail to connect it with the Lake Highlands Town Center and the White Rock Creek Trail
The additional money was financed from the street and transportation improvements fund and the parks and recreation fund. One fund financed about $300,000 and the other gave about $90,000, according to the City Council.
The construction is contracted with RoeschCo Construction for phases 2A/2B. RoeschCo is a minority-owned and Frisco-based company that specializes in parks and recreation facilities.
