Lake Highlands Women’s League volunteers presented college scholarships to 33 graduating seniors Friday. The funds were generated from their annual Holiday in the Highlands home tour, a neighborhood tradition since 1978.
“We are confident in your future and thankful we can be a part of supporting your success,” LHWL Scholarship Chairman Meredith Mosley told the students and their families. “We wish you all the best of luck and know you will have great adventures along the way.”
The scholarships were granted in addition to $77,500 given earlier this month to community nonprofits and local schools.
“There’s no better way to wrap up our year,” said LHWL President Carolyn Murray. “Celebrating these outstanding seniors and learning a small piece of their stories is so encouraging. Being a part of helping them launch is the greatest reward.”
The league’s ability to deliver 33 scholarships — up dramatically from last year’s 22 — is the result of faithful backing by donors and tour attendees.
“This would not be possible without the unwavering support of our community,” said Murray. “This is such a great snapshot of what being part of Lake Highlands looks like.”
