Bicycle entry in last year’s parade.

Lake Highlands Exchange Club volunteers are gearing up for their annual Fourth of July parade, and they’re inviting the entire community to join the festivities. The parade is our neighborhood’s slice of Americana and apple pie centered around a theme of unity, patriotism and community spirit.

Jill Goad, recently retired executive director of Feed Lake Highlands, will lead the parade as Grand Marshal, while schools, clubs and nonprofit organizations are invited to join the procession with themed entries. Kids may also decorate wagons and bicycles to join the fun. Spectators can expect to see vintage cars, local sports teams, energetic dance troupes, patriotic music and a colorful procession of community organizations proudly representing their causes.

After the parade, a carnival will feature food trucks, exhibitors and family attractions.

“We are excited to again host this celebration of our nation’s freedom for our community,” said Mark Holmes, parade director. “The Fourth of July parade not only brings joy and patriotism to our residents but also serves as a platform for showcasing the unity that defines Lake Highlands.”

The parade kicks off July 4 at 9 a.m. at North Highlands Bible Church, 9626 Church Road, and ends in front of Lake Highlands High School. The carnival and food trucks will be at Lake Highlands North Park.
