UPDATE: The church is celebrating its 159th anniversary this Sunday. Mt. Pisgah also received a Texas Historical Marker in 2020.
Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church recently elected its 15th pastor in 158 years.
In a May 6 vote at the church, S. Michael Greene was selected from a pool of 240 pastoral candidates to lead the oldest African-American church in Dallas, according to the press release. Greene will be officially inducted as the new pastor during a service on Sept. 17.
“I am elated to serve a church with such rich history, and I feel privileged to be a part of the
next chapter at The Rock,” said Greene in the press release.
He’s leaving Concord Church as the Pastor of Teaching, Evangelism and Leadership. S. Michael Greene is a husband, father, student, preacher and bible teacher. He served on the staff at Concord Church for more than 22 years.
