Alamo Drafthouse Lake Highlands is celebrating Pride Month with film screenings, new merch, and special events that highlight the LGBTQ+ community’s impact on the film industry
Celebrations kicked off last week at the cinema’s first-ever Drag Brunch screening hosted by Kylee O’Hara Fatale.
To continue the festivities, more screenings are planned throughout the rest of the month. Classic and more recent films will be showcased to represent a wide range of queer cinema.
Titles include Cabaret; Pink Flamingos; Hedwig and the Angry Inch; The Birdcage; The Mitchells v. The Machine; Rocketman; But I’m a Cheerleader; Moonlight; Victor/Victoria, The Rocky Horror Picture Show; and The Babaook.
Tickets and a full screening schedule are available here.
A special cocktail menu will also be available at all films playing throughout the Pride at Alamo Drafthouse film series, with a portion of each drink purchased supporting The Trevor Project.
For the entire month of June, all online and mobile ticket sales will include an optional add-on for guests to donate $1, $3, or $5 with their ticket purchase to The Trevor Project, a national nonprofit that focuses on suicide prevention efforts among LGBTQ+ youth. Alamo Drafthouse is matching guest donations up to $5,000.
“Cinema is for everyone. Alamo Drafthouse is for everyone, and we want to say as loudly as we can that our theaters will always be a safe space for our friends in the LGBTQ+ community,” said Shelli Taylor, CEO of Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in a statement. “We’re so proud to support The Trevor Project in their vital mission and to share these outstanding films that we consider to be essential viewing with our guests.”
