Mary Pat Higgins was presented with the award at the nonprofit’s Leadership Forum and Awards Celebration on April 27 at the Omni Dallas Hotel.

President and CEO of the Dallas Holocaust Museum, Higgins was among five women honored with the prestigious award. A TWF press release credited Higgins with leading the museum’s educational mission and using her role to advance human rights in the face of prejudice, hatred and indifference.

According to the TWF’s website, the Maura Award is given to those who utilize “their role in leadership to advance opportunities to serve the unique needs of women and girls.” The award has been given to distinguished women in leadership for 44 years.

In addition to honoring Higgins and other awardees, the TWF event included forums with Maura Award recipients discussing their careers and panel discussions hosted by best-selling author and co-host of NBC’s TODAY, Jenna Bush Hager. TWF raised over $572,000 at the event.
