The new service will allow customers between the ages of 13 and 17 to operate and Uber account after the account has been linked to a family profile by parents.

The program is being launched in 14 cities; Dallas is a part of the pilot program along with Atlanta, Nashville and New York City.

Parents will be notified any time a teen requests a ride. Parents will also have access to track that ride in real-time, and be able to communicate directly with the driver, Uber said.

Other security measures, such as PIN verification and audio recording, will also be implemented for rides for unaccompanied minors.

The company also said that teens will only be matched with “highly rated and experienced drivers” who undergo a yearly background check. DMV and criminal record flags will be sent to the company, Bloomberg reported.

Uber attempted to roll out an unaccompanied minor program in 2017, but was unsuccessful.
