In the morning, guests will be treated to some champagne. The first 20 people to arrive will get a pair of Linny Co earrings. Then, there will be a food truck from Lake Highlands family-owned Bondi Bowls from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.. Bondi Bowls specialize in smoothie bowls, shaved ice and special lemonades.

There will also be a prize walk, which is similar to a cake walk with donated prizes, and free t-shirts in limited quantity. So, if you’re looking to get a limited t-shirt, you’ll have to arrive before the last hour.

The Store, owned by Lake Highlands neighbor Cheryl Calvin, opened in its original Northlake Shopping Center location in 2002. In June 2019, the shop moved to Lakeridge Village where it has since remained.

“I have a huge community, and Lake Highlands has really supported my business,” Calvin said during our phone call. “I wouldn’t be here without them, and I would say that our customers have become our friends. We love seeing them.”

A lot of Calvin’s employees also live in Lake Highlands and have been working there for years. One employee has been with her since the business opened.

Calvin’s daughter also recently moved back to the neighborhood, with a family of her own, so she can help out at The Store. The whole family will be at the party, and Calvin’s son-in-law will be serving champagne at the door.

“My daughter was in the fourth grade when I opened the store,” she says. “Recently, she had a baby a year ago, so she and her husband and my granddaughter have now moved back to Dallas for her to work at The Store. So, we’ve got multi-generations working here now.”

The Store is located in at 9850 Walnut Hill Lane, #226.
