Meet Alondra Trevizo, a senior at Cristo Rey Dallas, who has spent the past two years completing a work-study program at Presbyterian Village North (PVN), a senior living community.
Through her school’s corporate work-study program, Trevizo gained professional experience starting at age 16.
Originally, Trevizo planned to pursue a career in pediatrics and was surprised to be placed in a senior living community.
“My corporate work study program introduced me to a broader part of Dallas and has given me the opportunity to meet members of the community, including senior residents, that I may not have otherwise met during my day-to-day routine,” she says. “The residents at PVN made my experience in the Lake Highlands community especially rewarding.”
In her role at PVN, she supports wellness programs, contributes her artwork and reflections to the community’s “Wellness Intention Wall” and assists with special events and day-to-day needs.
This fall, Trevizo will attend Texas Christian University on a full scholarship where she plans to study nursing with a focus on geriatrics — a pathway she did not consider before her time at PVN.
“Now that I’m transferring into a new chapter of my life, I’m excited to study nursing after having this experience at PVN,” Trevizo says.
