The third and final phase of renovations at Lake Highlands High School is expected to begin in March, according to Richardson ISD.
The RISD board of trustees approved a budget of about $14.7 million for Phase 3 of construction at their Aug. 12 meeting. The project includes new classrooms, additional electrical and mechanical system work, and the addition of a storm shelter.
Initial phases of construction included a new multipurpose activity center, a larger cafeteria, a new library and mechanical and electrical system upgrades.
Work also includes construction of a connector building to join two classroom facilities currently referred to as the L and H buildings, according to Community Impact Newspaper.
