Wondering how to get rid of that month-old Christmas tree? Neighbors can now drop off their firs, spruces and pines at the Northeast Transfer Station on Fair Oaks Avenue.
Until Feb. 3, City of Dallas residents can drop off used Christmas trees at four sanitation department sites, including the Northeast Transfer Station in Lake Highlands. Neighbors must have a valid driver’s license and proof of residency, which can be shown with a Dallas Water Utilities Bill or the address on their ID.
The city is accepting natural, undecorated trees (take off the ornaments!) There is a limit of one tree per household, although multiple trees can be taken to the McCommas Bluff Landfill for disposal. Trees do not need to be wrapped or bagged.Â
The Northeast Transfer Station’s hours are as follows:
Monday-Friday: 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Saturday: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Sunday: Closed
