When you read a great book, don’t you want to discuss it with neighbors over a nice glass of wine?

RM 12:20 Bistro will kick off Bistro Book Club, a new monthly feature, on Tuesday, May 21st. The first selection will be Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, currently #1 on the New York Times Best Sellers List and one of Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine Book Club picks.

Crawdads begins in 1969 when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, and locals in the quiet North Carolina town of Barkley Cove suspect Kya Clark, the so-called “Marsh Girl.” At ten, Kya had been abandoned by her parents to survive in the wild. She avoids townsfolk who ridicule her strange ways, but she finds friends outside town in the black community and learns to read from a young boy who comes out to fish. Was Chase’s death an accident or murder? The tale is a mystery, but it’s also a tender coming-of-age story.

This is no book review – we hope you will read the book and participate in discussion will be guided by yours truly, Carol Toler. Chef-owner Erin Willis and her manager, Michaela Camm, will offer a special cocktail for the occasion, plus they’ll have half price bottles of wine and discounted appetizers at happy hour.

At the end of the discussion, we’ll reveal next month’s selection.

Bistro Book Club begins at 5 p.m. May 21st. If you’d like to join us, RSVP to RM 12:20 Bistro, 214-238-2919. RM 12:20 Bistro is in Lakeridge Village on the southeast corner of Audelia at Walnut Hill.
