Equest is a nonprofit providing equestrian therapies to children and adults with a wide variety of disabilities

Wednesday’s Fourth of July parade will be a celebration of our nation’s freedom, but if you want a second crack at honoring American war heroes, Equest is hosting a star-spangled fundraiser July 20th to alert veterans and their families to their array of many services. Equest is especially inviting WWII veterans to the event for a rousing ovation.

Equest is a nonprofit providing equestrian therapies to children and adults with a wide variety of disabilities, and one of their fastest growing programs is Hooves for Heroes, a mental health counseling and equestrian therapy for veterans and their immediate family members at no charge. Equest partners with multiple veterans’ service organizations to equip military heroes and their families for long-term, productive community involvement.

The Boots & Salutes event will feature a WWII T-6 aircraft flyover, the Dallas Swing Dancers and the Jordan Kahn band – a sister band to Emerald City. There will be food stations from great restaurants, ice cold beer from Real Ale Brewery and silent auction items. Because the party will be held at Texas Horse Park, Equest’s home, attendees will even have a chance to meet the horses that make miracles happen for clients every day.

To purchase a $75 ticket, sponsor a veteran or suggest an attendee to be honored, go online here or contact Christine Volkmer at cvolkmer@equest.org. Texas Horse Park is at 811 Pemberton Hill Road in the Great Trinity Forest and the party begins at 7:30 p.m.

You can read about veterans Mike here and Joe here – two Equest clients who have benefited from equestrian therapy.
