It started with a thank you card to the police of the Northeast Police Division following the recent attacks on police headquarters in Downtown Dallas.
Residents of Merriman Park/University Manor in Lake Highlands say they wanted to show their support, gratitude and concern for our neighborhood’s police officers.
Resident Katie Quinn says she came up with the thank-you card idea last month.
Not only did her neighbors enthusiastically turn out to sign the card, but they also baked a cake for substation northeast, initiated Police Appreciation Month and put up a banner of support, which you’ll see when you drive down Northwest Highway, between Walling and Fenton.
The sign will be in place all month.
In the above video, provided by Dallas Police Department, residents talk about their inspiration for the efforts.
