The annual Fourth of July Parade hosted by the Lake Highlands Exchange Club came off without a hitch today, with hordes of young families and longtime residents donning red, white and blue to cheer for student groups, politicians, firefighters and others marching and rolling down Church Road.
“I think this may have been the longest parade we ever had,” said Sally Fifer, who admits she’s been around for quite a few. “And I think it was the best.”
You can see my photos from the day here.
Following the parade, the LHEC hosted a carnival with live music, face-painting and food trucks at the rec center. Judging by the smiles, I’d say they can claim an overwhelming success.
