One of our regular commenters suggested an over/under for the Trinity referendum poll we’re running as part of our October Trinity magazine package. And, since we love to take reader suggestions and run contests here at Back Talk, we came up with this: The ScurvyOaks Guess the Trinity Poll Outcome Contest (named for the man who suggested it).

Here are the rules: Pick the percentages in our poll, which closes on Oct. 8. There are three outcomes — for, which removes the toll road; against, which keeps the toll road, and undecided. The person who picks all three correctly — or comes closest — wins. Contest ends at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4. E-mail entries here. The winner gets $50 in gift certificates from a neighborhood restaurant. The person who is the most wrong gets $20.

Update: We just received an entry for the most wrong at 100 and 0. Or 0 and 100. Very clever. Let’s be a little more serious here, people.

Decision of the judge is final in case of ties, close calls or similar events, and the notoriously fair-minded Advocate publisher Rick Wamre is the judge. You can enter more than once, but don’t overdo it. Five or six entries is OK; 18 is not. The contest is open to anyone but Advocate employees, so our volunteer bloggers, people who work for plastic surgery’s favorite local magazine, and Dallas’ Only Daily Newspaper are eligible. (I had D in mind when I added the $20 prize.)

One other word of wisdom: Poll voters include everyone who gets the Advocate, which includes readers in Preston Hollow and North Dallas (we do four magazines). Are those readers as anti-toll road as people in East Dallas and Lakewood seem to be? We’ll find out in a week.
