The Lake Highlands High School drum line captured first place at the Plano Drum Line Competition, facing top-rated band programs from schools all over North Texas. Last year the Cats placed third. The Wildcat drummers were also named Best Snare Line and Best Bass Line. Senior Jordan Brooks won the individual competition for tenor drum solo for the second consecutive year, and junior Greyson Morgan took second place for individual snare solo. Jordan, shown in the photo, is the kid who traveled the country all summer, competing with the Blue Knights team. And if you were at the LH vs. Sunset football game, you probably witnessed Greyson’s sideline drum solo asking Highlandette Allison Ritter to Homecoming. She said yes.

Two more excellent musicians and members of the Wildcat Marching Band, LHHS senior twins Garrett and Luke Wingfield, have been named to the All-Region Jazz Band. Garrett will play lead tenor saxophone, his third year to earn the honor, and Luke will play the trumpet for the second consecutive year. The All-Region Jazz Band will perform at Sachse High School on November 14.
