The Dallas Center for the Performing Arts is looking for volunteers to serve as ushers and ticket takers at performances in their new state-of-the-art facilities in downtown’s Arts District. “Our volunteer program already has 200 people, and we are looking for more,” said Kelly McCracken, Patron Services Manager for the Center, which opens in October.
Volunteers who usher will be required to serve at least once every six months and in return will get to see the shows and be part of the Center experience. Tour docents and office aides are also needed. Helpers with additional skills, such as CPR training, knowledge of a foreign language, and/or sign language capabilities are particularly valuable. The new Center features multiple performance venues, including the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre, the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House, Annette Strauss Artist Square, City Performance Hall, and Sammons Park. “I am proud of the Center and would be happy to show any of you around anytime,” Kelly said in a message to Lake Highlanders. “You even get to wear a hard hat if you come by.”
