Country music up-and-comer Granger Smith basked in the glow of a rousing down-home welcome Sunday, giving a benefit concert to hundreds of LH fans in the parking lot of the high school. Fans cheered (some sang along) as the LHHS graduate played his hits and remembered the good-ole-days growing up in Lake Highlands and watching games played at The Boneyard.

Ticket proceeds went to the Wild For Cats academic booster club, filling teacher funding requests for the “extras” that help educators make a difference in the lives of their students. If you missed the fun, you can make a contribution here or listen to Granger’s music here. You can also see my video of the Wranglers dancing to Granger and his band singing “Gypsy Rain,” a favorite from their new album.
