Friday night at 7:05 pm, Lake Highlands High School will crown its 2009 Homecoming Queen in a pre-game ceremony at the Wildcat football game. It’s always a touching moment, with dads or brothers of the girls escorting them onto the field and encouraging them. I have to give LH kids credit – they nominated some of the sweetest, kindest, most lovely and lovable girls for the honor. (Last year’s winner was valedictorian Alex Atalis.) The following senior girls were nominated by the student group listed after their name: Danielle Carruth – senior class, Karin Claussen – Highlandettes, Elly Collett – football team, Ijay Eneremadu – senior class, Sarah Holmes – choir, Michelle McCloskey – Student Council, Maurie Smith – marching band, Ashley Zorn – senior class.

These junior girls were nominated for Princess: Sallye Hale, Emily Hillman, and Bridgett Smith. These sophomore girls were nominated for Duchess: Taylor Jackson, Megan Jodie, and Carly Kaplan. Congratulations girls, and congratulations students for choosing excellent role models among you.
