Even after starting at 6 a.m. and toiling for two hours, the football team’s work wasn’t done Monday. That’s why they’re called two-a-days.

Monday’s second practice started at 10 a.m. and coach Scott Smith said the team had more energy, probably because the initial workout began with the dreaded conditioning test of 20 sets of 40-yard dashes.

"We finished up really well," Smith said. "I thought our second practice was even better than our first one. We were a little rusty in our first one but we wrapped up real well."

The Wildcat varsity will have 2-a-day practices at 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. for the next three days until they don full pads on Friday.

Smith was scheduled to conduct a recruiting seminar for parents on Monday in the LH library. Smith planned to discuss the various opportunities to play at the next level, from major colleges to non-scholarship Division III programs, as well as NCAA Clearinghouse requirements.

"It’s the basic nuts and bolts about what recruiting is all about," Smith said. "I try to give them important dates, places where they can go. For kids that want to have that opportunity, whether they get a scholarship or not, to know all that information is very beneficial."
