Isaac Grieder, a senior at the University of Louisiana Monroe, won the heptathlon at the Sun Belt Conference (SBC) Indoor Championships last week. It was his third time to medal in the event while at ULM and his second time to win gold.
Heptathlons involve seven events: 60 meter run, 1000 meter run, shot put, 60 meter hurdles, high jump, long jump and pole vault. Grieder earned 5,273 points – 21 more than his nearest competitor – to earn the gold medal. He was named to ULM’s All Conference Team for the fifth time.
In 2014, Grieder was first at the SBC Indoor Championships, but last year he finished in a tie and was given the silver medal based on tie breakers. This year, he regains his gold medal status. Congratulations, Isaac Grieder!
