LHE teachers sign up to give blood for Reece.
Lake Highlands Elementary held a blood drive Tuesday to support Reece Griffin, the spunky 3-year-old diagnosed with ALL Leukemia last month. Reece’s sister, Gracey, is a kindergartener at LHE, and her mom, Roxxy, is principal at Northwood Hills in Richardson ISD. Roxxy and Joe also have a third daughter, Aubrey, who is three weeks old.
Acute lymphoblastic leukemia is a fast-growing cancer of the white blood cells.
“The Griffins were overwhelmed with the turnout,” said Shauna Breeckner, one of the organizing teachers. “We had 42 blood donors, 11 platelet donors and 45 people sign up on the bone marrow registry. We saved lives today.”
If you’d like to give blood in support of Reece, Northwood Hills Elementary, 14532 Meandering Way, is hosting a blood drive Saturday, May 30th from 11-3. You may also donate to Carter Blood Care at one of their nearby donation centers listed here.
