Neighbors can catch some Lake Highlands High School football action on their televisions this Friday.
The Wildcats are coming off a bye following a statement win against Flower Mound in Week 3, when Highland Park transfer Chuck Smith threw for 409 yards and five touchdown passes to secure SportsDay Offensive Player of the Week honors. This Thursday at 7 p.m, Lake Highlands will open UIL District 7-6A play against J.J. Pearce in a televised Richardson ISD showdown away from home.
For those unable to make it up to Eagle-Mustang Stadium, CW 33 has chosen the matchup as its High School Football Showdown game of the week. Starting at 7 p.m. Thursday night, neighbors can switch to Channel 33 and watch the game live.
Lake Highlands (2-1) recorded its sole loss in a tight game against a talented Forney roster earlier this season. J.J. Pearce (2-1), on the other hand, has dropped games against Plano West and Flower Mound Marcus.
One notable storyline this season comes with the emergence of Franklon Evans. The junior currently leads the Wildcats in rushing yards and has also snagged ten catches for 127 yards on the year. He has been named a player to watch this week by SportsDay, coming off a performance against Flower Mound in which he finished with both a rushing and receiving touchdown.
Lake Highlands will kick off against J.J. Pearce on Sept. 25 at Eagle-Mustang Stadium, located at 1250 W Belt Line Rd.
