Smith completed 23 of 27 pass attempts for 409 yards and five touchdown passes en route to a 52-38 win over Flower Mound Friday night. On Monday, the Dallas Morning News named Smith SportsDay offensive player of the week for his efforts.

The senior finished the game without a single turnover as he completed over 85% of his passes to eight different receivers, including Ollar Osarollor, who finished the night with 106 receiving yards and a touchdown on four receptions.

Following the win, Lake Highlands has risen to make its first appearance this season in the SportsDay Dallas-area high school football rankings at #20.

He has yet to throw an interception through three games this season and has already eclipsed 1000 passing yards on the year. Over the summer, Smith turned in another five-touchdown performance against Irving MacArthur in the state 7-on-7 tournament.

Standing at 6-foot-1, the senior quarterback transferred to Lake Highlands from Highland Park in January. In February, Smith received an offer from Sacramento State.

Lake Highlands will have a bye this week before opening district play against J.J. Pearce High School on Sept 25.
