As reported by the Dallas Observer and Kerrville Daily Times, an eight-year-old from Lake Highlands died in the flooding after heavy rain caused the Guadalupe River to rise significantly in a short amount of time.

95 deaths have been reported as of 2:03 p.m. Monday, CBS News reported

Current and former Camp Mystic families have been invited to a vigil at Southern Methodist University tonight. While organizers wrote “the outpouring of love and support from everyone has been so appreciated and comforting,” they also asked the public to respect the event as a place for the Camp Mystic community to heal and be together at this difficult time.

Area moms are planning a green ribbon campaign to honor their beloved neighbor and other flood victims. Similar efforts are already underway in the Park Cities.

There will also be a blood drive in memory of the flood victims at Lake Highlands North Recreation Center on July 9 from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Two spots are still available as of the time of publication.

The family has asked for privacy at this time.
