The old Calloway’s Nursery is finally ready to close and move to the new store near Moss Soccer Park.

It’s been more than four years since Calloway’s Nursery opened a new store on Greenville Avenue in anticipation of closing their long-standing shop just a half mile to the south. Now, Calloway’s is ready to complete the consolidation, and everything at the old store is 50% off.

Before Calloway’s could begin building their new nursery near Moss Soccer Park in 2020, workers had to lift the site out of the 100-year floodplain by adding fresh dirt. The doors opened with much fanfare in April of 2021, but the Calloway’s across from Presbyterian Hospital kept selling flowers, shrubs and birdseed, to the delight of green-thumbed neighbors.

After the doors finally close for good, local developers have big plans for the site at Greenville and Pineland. Vickery Meadow Real Estate Holdings assembled the old Jason’s Deli, El Arroyo and other nearby properties with plans to build a big mixed-use center. They haven’t published drawings of the project, but their MU-2 zoning allows multifamily housing, retail, restaurant, office and hotel uses.

The old Calloway’s Nursery is at 7410 Greenville Avenue. The new Calloway’s is at 7580 Greenville.

Site of a new mixed use development, coming to Pineland and Greenville.
