District Ten Council Member Kathy Stewart will host a community meeting to discuss traffic safety on Abrams Road later this month.
On March 19, Stewart will host a community meeting on traffic safety at Forest Meadow Middle School. She will be joined by representatives from the Dallas Police Department and Department of Transportation and Public Works. At the meeting, officials will provide updates on a soon-to-be-completed traffic study and listen to resident feedback and concerns.
Traffic on Abrams Road has come under increased scrutiny from neighbors in recent months. In December, a deadly multi-vehicle collision left two dead on Abrams Road near an active school zone. The crash was widely publicized and led to significant outcry from District 10 residents, who in turn started a petition calling for increased traffic enforcement that now has over 1,500 signatures.
In response to the outcry, the city commissioned traffic safety studies on Abrams Road and Forest Lane earlier this year. The studies will likely be discussed at the meeting and are expected to be completed soon, according to a newsletter from Kathy Stewart.
The community meeting will begin at 6 p.m.
