Courtesy of Pegasus Link Constructors.According to an email from District 10 Council Member Kathy Stewart, traffic at the Skillman-Audelia intersection will reopen in all directions later this month, although no specific date has been specified. Portions of the intersection and Audelia Road have been closed since November, with traffic affected on both sides of I-635.
Traffic will continue to be directed to the temporary bridge over I-635 as “final touches” are made to the near-completed traffic bridge. The construction is part of TxDot’s ongoing $1.74 billion 635 East Project, which includes a reconfiguration of the Skillman-Audelia-I-635 intersection and construction of the “signature” arch bridge and additional sound walls. 635 East will bring lane expansions and improvements on the highway from US 75 to I-30.
Across the length of east I-635, construction is set to last through 2025. No official date has yet been set for the opening of the Skillman Arch Street Bridge.
