National Signing Day found its way to the Lake Highlands High School campus Wednesday morning when 15 Wildcat student-athletes signed financial aid agreements to pursue athletics at the collegiate level.
Feb. 5 marks the beginning of the late three-day signing window for high school athletes looking to compete in National Collegiate Athletics Association sports. Last year, 13 LHHS students signed National Letters of Intent, which have been supplanted this year by financial aid agreements.
Six Wildcat football players, coming off a district championship-winning campaign, signed commitment letters. They were joined as signees by student-athletes from the school’s baseball, cross country and girls’ soccer teams, in addition to one rower who competes for Dallas United Crew.
Student-athletes gathered in the Hub with families, staff and coaches for the signing ceremony, which took place early Wednesday morning.
One notable signee, three-star safety prospect Ayden Webb, committed to Oklahoma State University after a first-team all-district defensive campaign. Reigning District 7-6A Defensive Player of the Year Ryan Schirato also signed to continue his career at the collegiate level, committing to play at Henderson State University.
