Texas Monthly released its list of the top 50 tacos in Texas earlier today, and Lake Highlands was not left out.
Taco editor and author of American Tacos: A History & Guide Jose Ralat traveled over 14,000 miles and ate over 1,200 tacos to compile the list. One noteworthy stop, apparently, was at Resident Taqueria.
Ralat praised the eatery for its seasonal specials and ingredients. The caramelized cauliflower taco, served on a “fresh, airy flour tortilla,” was the clear favorite.
Resident Taqueria opened in 2015 and will celebrate a decade in Lake Highlands next year. The taco shop is owned and operated by Andrew Savoie, who comes from a serious culinary career with stops at respected establishments The Inn at Little Washington.
The honor comes as Michelin is preparing to announce its Texas awards in early November. The taqueria has been mentioned by several publications as a potential contender for the Bib Gourmand award.
Resident Taqueria joins four other Dallas taquerias, including two named to the top ten, on the list.
