Forest Meadow Middle School will officially open to the community with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Sept. 18. Students have been attending class in the heavily remodeled building since Aug. 13.
Richardson ISD trustees voted in 2021 to transition district junior highs to a middle school model, moving sixth graders to learn on campus alongside seventh and eighth graders. Changes to LHJH and Forest Meadow were financed using the 2021 bond, and changes to other district junior highs were proposed for the 2026 bond. Currently, sixth graders in Lake Highlands are the only students in the district attending middle school instead of elementary school.
A ribbon-cutting was held at Lake Highlands Middle School Sept. 5.
Forest Meadow’s ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. near the building’s front door, and tours will follow, including the rebuilt Jeff Kane Activity Center.
FMMS is at 9373 Whitehurst Drive.
