After months of anticipation, La Casita Coffee will finally open this Friday in Half Price Books’ flagship store on Northwest Highway.
Owner Maricsa Trejo told The Advocate that while she will be on duty in Richardson, her husband Alex will be the boots on the ground for the Friday morning opening. La Casita Coffee will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m, seven days a week.
Originally announced towards the beginning of the year, the new concept from the James Beard-nominated pastry chef will serve only coffee and pastries — which will be baked in Richardson — for the initial few months. Afterwards, Trejo is planning on getting her liquor license to open a full-on tiki bar/restaurant serving hot food and tropical cocktails in the space.
“It’s gonna be like a mix of Pacific Island food,” Trejo recently told The Advocate. “Asian food, Vietnamese, Korean and Mexican food.”
Trejo is also planning to open a location in Uptown sometime in November. The HPB location will be La Casita’s first in Dallas proper, with stores already operating in Richardson and Rowlett.
La Casita Coffee is located at 5803 E Northwest Hwy.
