A new Goddard School is coming to the Lake Highlands area after a recent real estate acquisition.
The building at 10620 E Northwest Hwy, formerly home to Zama Home Furniture and a Dollar Tree, was recently acquired by Noori Abdulghani, president of Linhope Companies LLC. According to the release, he plans to turn most of the 19,000-square-foot space into a Goddard School franchise. Its most recently tax-appraised value was $874,000.
The Goddard School is a chain childcare facility and early childhood learning center, serving children aged six weeks to six-years-old. Goddard, headquartered in Pennsylvania, has over 600 franchise schools serving close to 100,000 students in 37 states and Washington D.C.
The location is expected to open in early 2025, according to Goddard.
“As a local resident with young children, I know firsthand the need for additional childcare in this part of Dallas. We look forward to partnering with Goddard to develop a leading childcare facility and invest in quality education and care for our youngest generation,” Abdulghani said in a release.
Abdulghani operates several franchises in the area, including Firehouse Subs and other DFW Goddard Schools, according to the Dallas Business Journal.
Part of the space is currently being used by East Dallas Arts, an educational performing arts center operated as a nonprofit organization. According to the release, Abdulghani plans to use most — not all — of the space for the school, leaving the future of East Dallas Arts up in the air.
Abdulghani was represented in the sale by Cushman & Wakefield senior director Steve Wentz. The seller, Johnny Kenny, was represented by Michael Ytem and Luke Nolan of Younger Partners. Kenny had owned the property since the 1990s.
