Who knows how long this cold (for Texas in July) front is going to last? For those who want to get out this weekend and explore, we’ve got you covered. So, here’s five things to do in and around Lake Highlands this weekend.
Browse locally-sourced produce and wares at the White Rock Farmers Market
1450 Old Gate Lane | Saturday 8 a.m. to noon
Hosted regularly at White Rock United Methodist Church, the White Rock Farmers Market brings local vendors together for a fun morning with fresh produce, tasty bites and intriguing wares. Organized by Good Local Markets, the market is an off-the-beaten-path way to kick off your Saturday.
Grab a bagel at Lubbies
1160 Peavy Road
Bringing serious East Coast bagel chops to – let’s be honest with ourselves here – what was once a barren bagel wasteland, Lubbies serves up some of the best bagels around. Lines are often long in the morning, but it’s well worth the wait. They also have a well-rounded list of deli sandwiches to choose from for lunch.
Go shopping at Park Lane or NorthPark
Between the longtime Dallas shopping institution NorthPark Center and the up-and-coming Shops at Park Lane, there’s no shortage of stores to browse. Whether you are window shopping or looking to treat yourself, the two malls combine to offer over 230 storefront options. Both NorthPark and The Shops at Park Lane have a few sales going on right now too, if you’re looking for a deal.
Learn to make Tuscan ravioli by hand at Vector Brewing
9850 Walnut Hill Lane | Saturday 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Learn how to make a scratch-made raviolo with Chef Nubia this Saturday at Vector Brewing. Tickets are available for $59 a person. You may want to book your tickets soon, however, as spots are limited and almost gone.
Grab a cocktail at Cedar and Vine
9661 Audelia Road
Owned by Lake Highlands High School alumni, Cedar and Vine has become a consistent neighborhood spot since opening in 2017. The drink menu, offering funky house cocktails like the L Streets Margarita and Highland’s Fizz, is relatively well-priced. The bar also offers classics like martinis, beer and wine, and a hearty food menu to compliment your beverage.
