“I’m building my audience one neighbor at a time,” she says.

Wilson came from a troubled upbringing, escaping a broken home to enter a life of drug dealing through her teenage years and mid-twenties. Now sober, and decades removed from that lifestyle, she now works as a life coach and books The Love Mic in her free time.

The Love Mic began in 2021 as a side project at Chocolate Secrets, a wine bar that Wilson frequented. She volunteered to host an open mic that the spot began to workshop, and by giving it a name she made it her own brand. She invited acoustic music artists, stand-up comedians, magicians and even a puppeteer to perform.
