Birdcall may be one of Lake Highlands’ most anticipated chicken joints. The restaurant chain first announced in August of 2022 they’d be opening in Lakeridge Village, and neighbors began an excited countdown. After months spent wrangling with the city hall permitting department, signs have gone up and Birdcall is ready to begin turning dirt this spring.

Denver-based Birdcall features chicken sandwiches, tenders and salads, plus sandwiches and burritos for breakfast. They offer an outdoor patio and indoor bar seating, where margaritas, beer and wine are served. Locations recently opened in Frisco and Carrollton, and the Richardson store officially opens Monday at Beltline and 75.

The Lakeridge Birdcall, like many things in storied Lake Highlands, will conjure memories for neighborhood old-timers. Before the site hosted a branch office of Chase Bank, since torn down, it was home to a busy Dairy Queen. Many a teen romance blossomed over DQ Dudes and banana splits back in the day, and the Birdcall folks say they are ready to become LH’s newest family hangout.
