Wildcat fans were a sea of white in the Alamodome

A big Lake Highlands crowd of loyal fans trekked down to San Antonio to watch the Wildcats play Friday night in the state semifinal basketball game. They’re going to need another night’s hotel room. LHHS defeated DeSoto 52-44 and will play Beaumont United tonight/Saturday for the state title.

It’s clear they get the newspaper in DeSoto, since LH’s five-star shooting guard Tre Johnson had company all night on the court. Johnson is accustomed to double coverage, though, and he’s comfortable spreading the ball around. North Texas commit Jaylen Washington (J-Wash to the kids) had 11 points, and Yale signee Big Sam Aletan had 10.

LH’s 8:30 p.m. game was an hour late getting started, and tonight’s game is also scheduled for 8:30. The big 6A matchup caps off a full day of Texas championships. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster.com using the promo code UILWIN. We’re visitors in the second game in section 144-142. Go Cats.
