The Texas Theatre in Oak Cliff.
Acclaimed filmmaker David Lowery to premiere new short film, Oak Thorn & The Old Rose Of Love tonight at the famed Texas Theatre.
Lowery has garnered acclaim from telling high-brow stories with large-scale production as seen in 2017’s A Ghost Story and The Green Knight in 2021. For both films, Lowery collaborated with film composer and Lake Highlands native Daniel Hart, who was interviewed by the Advocate in 2022.
At tonight’s event, Oak Thorn & The Old Rose Of Love will screen for the first time in Texas, followed by an in-person Q&A with Lowery himself. After the Q&A, audiences will get to watch a screening of The Green Knight.
The Green Knight released in 2021.
This event is being promoted by independent film studio A24, which is releasing a new edition Blu-Ray of The Green Knight with Lowery’s short tacked onto it as a special feature. Outside of limited screenings, this Blu-Ray will be the only way to access the short.
