Perry Nichols is best known for painting the murals inside the historic Lakewood Theater, but the prolific artist was commissioned for several works throughout Dallas. In 1947, he painted five murals inside the bygone Sears & Roebuck Co. store on Ross and Greenville avenues. (More)

Blue-eyed blues guitar: Mike Rhyner’s podcast, “Square One,” from The Athletic features an interview is with an experienced helicopter pilot who investigated the crash that killed Dallas native Stevie Ray Vaughan. What Colin P. Cahoon found differs from the original report. (Square One)

Rhyner, who knew Vaughan when they were students at Kimball High School, describes the blues guitarist as “the biggest thing to ever come out of Dallas.” Vaughan died 30 years ago in August. (More)
