The Dallas Piano Academy is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony this Friday at 4:30 p.m. to celebrate the opening of a new studio.
The studio, which opened Aug. 15, is located at 10464 E. Northwest Highway and is intended to be accessible for families from Lake Highlands, Lakewood, Lochwood and beyond.Â
The studio offers piano instruction to anyone Kindergarten-aged or older, and while most students at the academy are children, adults are welcome to take lessons. In addition to piano, the academy provides guitar, flute and voice lessons.
The academy was founded by Lisa Emmick, who has been offering music lessons since 1980. Emmick has studied performing arts since she was 5 years old, when she began taking piano lessons from her mother. As she grew up, she also learned to play the flute, and she became involved in pageantry and dance.
