Garland High School step team opened the afternoon with a performance routine before a video message from Texas Women’s Foundation CEO Miki Woodard was shown to attendees.

Catherine Helm, the Vice President of store operations at Target, introduced Felix to the stage. Together, Felix and Marshall took their seats on stage, discussing Felix’s journey as an athlete, maternal leave, motherhood, and her athletic footwear company, Saysh.

“Having a daughter and looking at her, that gave me the courage,” Felix said of finally deciding to launch Saysh.

She also shared the importance of having childcare at work and the barrier of access to childcare in athletics.

Co-chairs Laura Nieto and Rachel Vinson and Woodard drew the event to a close with final remarks and thanking sponsors, guests, and the high school students in attendance.
