Update at 8:07 p.m.: According to the Dallas Morning News, a woman arrived at Medical City Hospital about 10 a.m. Monday morning with her son, who had been shot in the head. Dallas police officers were called to the emergency room, where he was pronounced dead. Police continue investigating what led up to the shooting and who was involved. Just outside the hospital’s ER entrance, they used yellow crime scene tape to cordon off the area around a dark-colored Suburu sedan. A tow truck later hauled the vehicle away. Two small holes could be seen in a back window.

Update at 12:31 p.m.: Smash Da Topic reports from Medical City Hospital that the child has died. Dallas police are investigating a vehicle at the hospital apparently involved in the incident.

A child has reportedly been shot in a road rage incident which began in Richardson and ended in Lake Highlands. The condition, age and sex of the child is not yet known. It’s also not clear if the shooter has been captured by police.

Smash De Topic is reporting that investigators from Richardson and Dallas are both working the case on Timberleaf Drive between Abrams and Arbor Park at this hour. It’s not yet clear if the child was targeted or accidentally hit by gunfire between two parties.

Smash reports that the child was transported to a nearby hospital and is undergoing treatment. Advocate will update this post when more information becomes available. Timberleaf is currently closed to through traffic. Police request that neighbors avoid the area until the investigation is complete.
