The library has been under construction since the fall of 2019, and previously anticipated a spring 2021 opening date. It is now slated to open Sept. 25 at 9619 Greenville Ave., around the corner from the older branch at 9015 Forest Lane.

The old Forest Green Branch closed Aug. 28. All holds have been sent to the Audelia Road Branch library at 10045 Audelia Road. Pickups and returns can also be made at the Audelia location until Sept. 25.

The new Forest Green Branch Library is years in the making. Land for the construction of the library was purchased with funds from a 2006 bond. Another $1 billion bond passed in 2017 included the funds for the replacement library.
