The Northeast Division of the Dallas Police Department is hosting a free shredding event with the Lake Highlands Public Improvement District. 

The event is Aug. 22 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Scofield Church. The address is 7730 Abrams Rd.

The drive-thru event will allow people to shred items like paper, paper clips, hanging files, manila folders and notebooks.

They will not be able to shred 3-ring binders, plastic, x-rays, batteries, key fobs, remote controls, electronics and trash.
