Registered voters in Dallas County can cast ballots at any polling location during early voting, which ends Feb. 28. Check your voting status and find a location via the Texas Secretary of State or Dallas County.

Also, thank goodness for the Texas Tribune, where it’s easy to look up your ballot. Find out where to vote here.

Former Lake Highlands resident Chrysta Casteneda has filed to run for Texas Railroad Commissioner. The oil and gas attorney was an LHHS parent until her son, Scott Osborn, graduated in 2009. She now lives in Oak Cliff.

Casteneda, a Democrat, announced her campaign last week and will appear on the November 2020 ballot. Currently all 3 members of the commission are Republicans. Each commissioner serves a six-year term, and Ryan Sitton’s term ends in 2020. He is expected to run for re-election.

The Texas Railroad Commission regulates the state’s oil and gas business.
